Active Member of the month: Jet Vugts

February 21st, 2019  |  Saskia Budke

Today I speak with the active member of the month February: Jet Vugts, proud chair of the Synergy Ski Trip Committee. After ten full days of fun, skiing and après-ski at St. François Longchamp with good weather, 44 happy students returned to Nijmegen. If 165 km of ski slopes weren’t enough to fulfil everyone’s wishes, the committee also organized several cool activities. From having dinner at a local restaurant and Dinner Roulette to a Beach Party in the local club and a beer pong tournament. All in all, a trip to never forget.

Job Negotiation Skills

February 20th, 2019  |  Arjan Roovers

A while ago on a dark and rather cold Thursday evening it was time for a masterclass  organised  by the Formal Master Committee, a masterclass about job negotiation skills.  Of course  it can be hard to know what to expect...

Da Vinci Series

February 19th, 2019  |  Arjan Roovers

We’re travelling to the Netherlands. A small, charming country that has the highest population density in the European Union. On average a whopping 488 people live on one km2 in the Netherlands. Of those 488 people, an average of 53 are master graduates. This means that you are certainly not the only one applying for graduate level jobs. This is not meant to scare you, so stick around even if it does as it will get better.

Stress Management

February 13th, 2019  |  Tsveta Milanova

Stress is defined as the “psychological, physiological, and behavioral response by an individual when they perceive a lack of equilibrium between the demands placed upon them and their ability to meet those demands, which, over a period of time, leads to ill-health” (Palmer, 1989). Put simply, someone experiences stress when (s)he cannot meet the expectations (demands) placed on them within a specific time frame. Stress management refers to the tools and techniques that can be used to reduce stressors.

Mark’s board experience

February 12th, 2019  |  Georginio Bruinhard

Now that we’re on the brink of looking for a new full-time board it looked like a good idea to inquire about the current board members their experience. Mark, Synergy’s treasurer, is the second member with whom we had this interesting interview.

On the 26th of February the annual Synergy Conference will take place at Fort Lent. The committee is busy with the last preparations before their big day. A good moment for an interview with the chairman: Hadewych van Reeuwijk. I spoke with Hadewych one day after the opening of the subscriptions.

Actief lid van de maand: Eva Haanen

January 25th, 2019  |  Georginio Bruinhard

Hidden Jewels of the Netherlands

January 18th, 2019  |  Tsveta Milanova

Are you a non-Dutch student studying in the Netherlands and wondering where to go? Are you a Dutch student wondering why someone would go to your city? In this article, there will be presented some of the nicest towns that you probably have not visited. No, you would not find places such as Amsterdam, Leiden, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Maastricht, or Nijmegen (the town we live in) here. These are certainly nice cities to visit, or perhaps to live, but definitely too mainstream that anyone has visited.

It is time for one of the most Dutch traditions: Sinterklaas! Actief lid van de maand: Stephen Gijsbers

December 6th, 2018  |  Georginio Bruinhard

Cocktail workshop for (pre-)masters

December 3rd, 2018  |  Arjan Roovers

The quickly fading colours of fall have many of us longing the days where we are at the beachside, enjoying a cocktail with friends and bulking up on vitamin D. Of course, you could book an expensive trip to the southern hemisphere to do just that. However, the cocktail crash course at the Bascafé was a perfect opportunity to have that beachside feeling for a more friendly price.

Workshop Social Skills EY

November 16th, 2018  |  Saskia Budke

Deze workshop was onderdeel van ‘the road to success’.
